Support your horse's calcium intake with Hyfeed Big Head Pellets & Lick, a calcium supplement formulated to help maintain a balanced calcium-to-phosphorus ratio. They are ideal for horses grazing pastures known to be low in available calcium or those receiving high-phosphorus, pollard or bran-based diets.
Big Head Pellets & Lick can also be used as a calcium supplement for broodmares and young, developing horses, helping provide additional calcium to support healthy bone development.
Nutritional Secondary Hyperparathyroidism, commonly known as "Big Head" or "Bran Disease", can occur when there is an imbalance between calcium and phosphorus in a horse's diet. Horses grazing tropical and subtropical grasses containing high levels of oxalates may be at risk, as can horses receiving diets high in phosphorus, including those containing significant amounts of grain, pollard or bran.
